Rossi pipes have been around for more than 100 years, and in fact, there was a time before WWII that they were the largest pipe maker in the world! Today, the Rossi brand has been reinvigorated by Savinelli and offers very affordable pipes with quality that is unsurpassed in their price range.
Rossi’s “8645” design, based on Savinelli’s “645 KS,” is a wide, stout bent Brandy interpretation, the bowl prioritizing breadth over height, yet still boasting a respectably deep chamber within. The bowl wears its waistline low before subtly tapering up toward the rim, while the transition offers ample room for the thumb to rest. Unlike the Italian marque’s “8628” bent Brandy, the “8645” is a low-slung take on the classic shape with the bowl more Apple-esque in its curvature. It’s an ideal choice for pipe smokers who prefer robust, substantial designs that also remain balanced and lightweight enough to be clenched comfortably in the jaw.
Introduced in 2022, Rossi’s Sera series offers pipes in a rugged rustication and a rich stain of varying chestnut and mahogany hues. The dark presentation evokes the line’s name — meaning “nightfall” in Italian — with the graduated tones calling to mind the onset of dusk. It’s a reserved and stately presentation, lent added refinement by a trim metal accent along the shank end, and while the craggy rustication offers rugged appeal and everyday durability, the traditional color palette makes this Sera pipe fit for any and every occasion.
